tombo's sizes

tombo it looks like you've an 8 and a 10 for your rack toms, correct? how do those sizes work out? i've been thinkin' about goin' to a similar setup

Not answering for tombo, but I've been using 8,10 and 15 for years. Recently I changed to 10, 12, 15. I absolutely love 8 and 10 though. The sound of a nicely tuned 8( and they're dead easy to tune anyway) is great, nice pitch about it.
Sometimes I have 8, 10 and 12 on top, 15 as a floor tom, or 8 and 10 on top, 12 and 15 to the right. Something about an 8 which is quite 'fusion'.

cool i took lessons from a guy who had an 8, 10 13(i think) they sounded real good, my only concern was goin' to high. my 10 has always sounded good and like u said "easy to tune".

Yes, 8" belongs to mid80s-mid90s fusion. I like this sound but I don't take it on every gig. For lighter music, I take 8+10 rack and 13 floor. For rock, 10+13 rack and 15 floor. Now if I could ever find another latin/fusion gig, I'd be happy to take the whole rig out again, including all the percs.
